Madonna’s Grandmother Passes Away 3 Months Before Her 100th Birthday
Madonna’s grandmother Elsie Mae Fortin passed away at a care home in Bay City, Michigan - just three months before her 100th birthday.
Fortin helped raise the singer after Madonna's own mum died from breast cancer in 1963.
"She's done things that I didn't approve of, but at the same time she's my granddaughter and I still love her and I'm proud of her hard work," Fortin said in 2008. "She's been good to me."
A statement from Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg reads, "I'm sorry, but Madonna will not be issuing any statements or conversing with the media regarding her grandmother. It is a totally personal matter to her."
